Time Signal of Simple Present Tense

Gerund


Gerund is the –ing form of verb used as noun. It is used in the same ways of a noun as a subject or an object.
For examples:
1.         -Playing football is fun. (playing is a gerund. It is used as a subject of the sentence).
-We enjoy playing football. (palying as an object of the verb enjoy)
2.         -He is excited about playing football.(palying is used as th object of the preposition   about.)
- I’m used to sleeping with the  window open.
-I’m accustomed to sleeping with the window open.
-I look forward to going home next month.
-They object to changing their plans at this late date.
 (in the sentences above, to is a preposition not part of an infinitive form so a gerund follows.)
