VERBS (PART III)

Pertemuan sebelumnya kita telah membahas tentang KIND OF VERBS. Untuk meeting ini kita akan membahas tentang INFINITIVE (bentuk kata kerja dasar).




II. INFINITIVE
ada dua jenis infinitve dalam bhs inggris, yaitu:
1.Infitive with "to" (to-infinitive)
ex: to go, to see, to do, to come, to speak, dsb

2.infinitve withhout "to"
ex: go, see, do, come, speak, dsb

- kita menggunakann infinitve with "to" sebagai berikut:
a. sesudah kata kerja yang menyatakan keinginan ( want, like, hope, wish, allow, dll)
examples:

• I want to speak in English with you.
• Darman likes to drink coffe.
• I hope to her to love me.

b. sesudah "ought" dan "used"
examples:

• you ought to have taken his advice.
• she used to go shopping every week end.

c. sessudah "about" yang menunjukan kejadian yang sudah dekat sekali.
examples:

• the sun is about to set.
• they are about to drive to the airport.

d. sesudah kata tanya "how", "what", "where, "when"
examples:

• he does not how to reply th eletter.
• they have decided what to buy.
• alland hasan don't know where to get off.

e. sesudah adjective( kata keadaan)
examples:

• he is wiling to drive us to station.
• it was clever of you to have thought up such a pln

f. sesudah "it is + an adjecitve"
examples:

• it easy to blame someone else for you own mistake.
• it is true to say that he broke his promise t you.

g. sesudah "do", "dare", dan "need"
examples:

• she dares to walk home alone on the dark.
• he did it to gain your favour.

-Kita menggunakan Infinitive without "to" jika:
a. sesudah kata-kata "must", "can", could", "may", "maight", "will", "shll", "should", "do", "did", "need", "dare"
examples:

• you can understand English
• may I help you?
• she did like your song after all.

b. sesuadah katak-kata "let", "help", "make", " had better", "would rather", "need hardly"
examples:

• let him do what he wants.
• she needs hardly repeat her words.

e. sesudah kata-kata kerja "see, feel, hear,observe, notice, watch" dan lain2.

• Mr Syarifudin felt the house shake.
• I distinctly heard say it.
