ADJECTIVE + NOUN PHRASES

Here are number of the phrases, each of which is composed of an objective and a noun, listed alphabetically as follows:
Bad time = Bad ( adjective), Time (noun)

Bad time = unpleasant experience
Black market = illegal market
Broad daylight = full daylight
Broken English = incorrect English
Cold war = unfriendly relation between countries
Fair play = a play in which there is no cheating
Free lance = one who is not paid by anyone, agency, office, et cetera
Good deal = a great deal, a lot of
Raked eye = eye unaided by any kind of instrument
Narrow escape = an escape made with difficulty
Practical joke = humor
Ready money = money which a person has in hand ready for use
Running water = water which flows
Short cut = a shorter or quicker way than the usual or ordinary one
Sick leave = take a day-off for being sick
Small arms = the opposite of heavy arms, such as pistols, etc
Soft drink = unalcoholic drink
Starting point = the point or place at which a start is made
Strong drink = alcoholic drink such as brandy, whesky, etc
Walking stick = a stick a person carries when walking
